HOW DOES INSTRUCT ME WORK
InstructMe Math is suitable for anyone who struggles with basic math facts, has just begun learning basic addition or multiplication facts and older students who are still skip counting and problem solving with their fingers. InstructMe Math offers students a multi-sensory system for learning math facts. This system is based on years of visual training implementation from it’s co-founder, William Price.
William Price practiced optometry for over forty years and has a passion for visual training. This type of training teaches the eye fine muscle movements while stimulating the brain’s ability to detect these movements along with other visual information. The principles of visual training are used with InstructMe for the purpose of memorizing math facts. Traditional methodology presents the math facts to the student without the answer, giving them a problem to solve. The InstructMe system delivers pure memorization of the complete fact, by including the answer when teaching. By flashing the math fact card for a fraction of a second, we have reduced the time for the eye and brain to wander and intensified the reception of the information. How often have you read a page in a book and then realized that you were thinking about something else, and hardly remembered what you read; or driven through an area of town thinking about other things, and realized that you could hardly remember what you saw? After flashing the card, your student then repeats what they saw, thus introducing an auditory response. Students can be visual or auditory dominant, you now have given them an option. Today, Mr. Price teaches part-time at Boone Prairie School and is working with Zyntango Publishing to launch the InstructMe line of educational products.
The InstructMe system not only uses the flash method, which you can get from a computer program, but includes an auditory response allowing you to observe and evaluate the student’s input so you can immediately adjust your training presentation. The system also includes surprise flashes, training the brain’s abilities in visual perception, which can help with increased reading
speed. Learning is most effective and enjoyable when it is personal, which InstructMe promotes!
